LC504 - MSc Educational Technologies and Knowledge Society
The MSc in Educational Technologies was first launched in 2004 as the MSc in Computer-Mediated Communications and Pedagogies. It was later reviewed and renamed to reflect the international trends in the field of ICT in Education and to meet the demand in terms of in-service professional development of educators.
The taught programme is delivered on a quasi-online mode of delivery with a few face-to-face tutorials. It is a part-time programme that spans over two academic years. The programme consists of 8 ‘taught’ modules and a research dissertation amounting to a total of 36 credits. The modular structure of the course means that it provides multiple exit-points for the student at Postgraduate Certificate and Diploma levels.
This programme is the pioneer in the field of education technology in Mauritius and especially in the context of online formal education for in-service educators. The course focuses on contemporary practices regarding the integration of ICT in education with special focus on the design and development of interactive learning resources. The course is assessed entirely by coursework and has no written exams. The course is on offer to international students who can embark on the programme without travelling to Mauritius.
MSc by Research
The MSc (by Research) in Educational Technology provides an alternative route to the Masters programme where the major component of the course is based on the conduct of an intensive research work.
The research dissertation carries 30 credits and students have to complete 6 credits on a Research Methodology module. This programme is offered on a 1 year Full-Time basis or on a 2 year Part- Time mode.
